Why feed is better than search

In enterprise collaboration the mantra has generally been to make any information available. The idea has been that if you store all knowledge in an indexed electronic format, knowledge will prevail and add value to the organization. And it has. But is this really collaboration?

What has been built is generally the enterprise Google. But fundamentally Google is a library. Documents transfer information between the user and provider of knowledge. It’s not a dialogue. And it certainly isn’t personal.

To stimulate real collaboration, enterprise software of the future needs to take a very different approach. Software needs to push the relevant information to the users, not wait for users to pull. Software should allow users to express themselves as individuals, with a unique voice and profile. Most importantly, software must motivate employees to creativity and innovation by transferring energy and pulse within collaborative teams.

This is why the user interface of enterprise software is changing to enterprise feeds. Early examples are solutions like Salesforce Chatter and SAP Streamwork . Similarly, Ethos integrates enterprise feeds into our business solutions on Microsoft Dynamics and Sharepoint platforms.
